About OneSearch

OneSearch is a fast way to search Scientific Library resources and collections - a single search box for journal articles, books, media and more. A large central index is compiled from thousands of publishers and content providers.  OneSearch includes a large amount of resources, but not everything the Scientific Library subscribes.  If you can't find what you are looking for please contact the library for assistance.

Search Features

  • A click or two takes you to the full text of articles and online books or shows whether a book is available on the shelf.
  • Search results include citations of many kinds of sources: books, book chapters, journal articles, reference entries, reviews, conference proceedings, dissertations, reports, videos, sound recordings, newspaper articles, and more.
  • Search results are sorted by relevance along with a number of facets that may be used to refine the results, such as resource type, creation date, subject, journal title, language, location, author/creator, collection, and more.
  • The results can also be sorted by date with the newest or oldest items first or alphabetically by title or author.
  • Citations in your search results can be viewed in five commonly used citation formats (MLA (7th edition), MLA (8th edition), APA (6th edition), Chicago/Turabian (16th edition), and Harvard), exported to RIS (for EndNote and other citation manager software), emailed, printed, or a permalink to the record can be copied.
  • Results can be saved to your account and viewed under My Favorites>Saved Records. Saved results can be organized with labels.
  • Searches can be saved to your account under My Favorites>Saved Searches and turned on as email alerts or RSS feeds.
  • All users are able to access and search the OneSearch interface. However, access to full-text, subscribed resources does require users be on the campus network or use VPN.
  • OneSearch provides a search interface optimized for mobile devices, including a “Search by Voice” option.
  • Expand your search by finding articles that cite or are cited by a relevant article.
  • Use the Virtual Browse feature to find related books in the Library Catalog and find related articles through the Related Reading suggestion feature.
  • Vague or short searches will return too many results; please look at our search help or reach out to the library for ideas on refining your search.
